Denmark leading the world with wind!

Denmark has set a world record for wind energy – being hailed as “the key to stop global warming”. According to the Independant ‘wind-generated energy made up almost 40 per cent of the country’s overall electricity consumption in 2014 – making it the world’s leading nation in wind-based power. About 39.1 per cent of electricity used in the country came from its wind turbines, according to the climate and energy ministry’

With no plans on stopping, with a target for 50 per cent of all energy consumption from renewable sources by 2020 and more wind turbines going in every day, Denmark is boasting incredible figures!

In fact, the Scandinavian country could soon have to deal with the issue of having “to much” wind energy!

Whatever the risks renewable energy is called renewable for a reason according to Energy Australia ‘ unlike fossil fuels, such as coal, gas and oil, renewable energy sources are highly unlikely to ever run out, and so are a much more sustainable long-term solution for electricity generation. Using renewable energy sources is a great way to reduce our reliance on ever-dwindling supplies of fossil fuels.

Whats that mean for Australia?

Wind power is a rapidly expanding mode of renewable energy in Australia, with an average annual rate of growth of 35% over the five years up to 2011. Whilst we might not yet be there, we are certainly working towards that same goal.
